Project Description

Osteoporosis

Disease that leads to reduced bone mass and disorganization of bone microstructure, increasing the risk of fracture. Its treatment, in addition to medication, also aims to address aggravating factors such as physical inactivity, smoking and diet.

Living in fear of falling and breaking a bone at any time is part of the reality for people living with osteoporosis. The disease, characterized by a decrease in bone mass, makes the bones more fragile, increasing the possibility of fractures.

Osteoporosis is the leading cause of fractures in the population over 50 years old and affects especially postmenopausal women and the elderly. Despite being a disease very associated with aging, some lifestyle habits can also influence the occurrence of osteoporosis, such as physical inactivity, poor diet and the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Moving around is essential

One of the most important points in controlling the disease is that the person has a healthy lifestyle, including regular physical exercise.
